New Year, New Opportunities

Julie Saunders

Posted on January 21 2018

I am guessing right now that many people reading this blog have made resolutions for 2018, and many have already thrown out those resolutions.  Resolutions can be a challenge, because there is a real pass or fail focus on them. The moment we slip up, we perceive that we have failed.

There are opportunities to grow, and the new year is a great time to make a conscious effort in the growth department. However, I believe it is fair to say that personal growth is not a case of pass or fail, but rather a case of better or worse.  Every tomorrow is always an opportunity to do better than today.

Personally, an area I would like to grow is being proactive, those that know me would say I have been known to procrastinate a little, lol.  So far, this year, I have done better than last year, but there is still lots of room for improvement.  I tend to enjoy being creative, I love coming up with new jewelry designs, as well as making new soaps, creams and lotions.  I am not naturally inspired to be proactive about the things I find boring, like data entry or other repetitive tasks (perhaps some of you can relate).  Last year I really got behind in my book keeping and inventory build up.

This year I have proactively increased the inventory on my website; All Charmed.  I have also been more proactive in doing my book keeping.  Neither of these activities are at the stage I hope they will be this time next year, but they are well ahead of where they have been over the past year.

For anyone that does want to do better in 2018, the new year is a great time to reach out and get a little help from others.  There are training opportunities (which I am planning to take advantage of) and there are life coaches (don’t hesitate to check out my husband’s business at www.coachingottawa.com).  Additionally, friends or family may have helpful suggestions that work for them.

Of course, as a crystal lover and trained crystal healer, I would be remis to not mention that there are crystals to help you stay grounded and focused (apatite, carnelian, citrine, fluorite, jade, hematite, lapis lazuli, obsidian, sodalite, amber, malachite and ruby are all good examples).  If you are drawn to crystals, many of these can be found in my jewelry at www.allcharmed.ca.  If you want to just buy the individual stones, you can’t go wrong visiting Garden of Crystals in Ottawa or your local crystal shop.

At the end of the day, I think the point of a new year is, not to be perfect, but to be better. Also, it is important to recognise when you are doing better.  Treat yourself nicely when you make progress and don’t be too hard on yourself when you have a bad day.

This year can be the best ever, let’s help each other to make that true.

Wishing you lots of love and good vibrations,

Julie

P.S. I know there are some shameless plugs for businesses throughout this article 😊. I only list them because I think they are great businesses and I would love for you to support them. However, if you are not interested in the businesses I mention, that’s fine, I am still glad to have you reading my articles.
